Salad Wedge

Posted in : appetizers on by : ajame001@odu.edu

I remember sitting in a restaurant once and seeing something like this. On my way home, I decided we needed a change from the traditional salad and stopped and happened to find the freshest iceburg lettuce in the world.

You will need:

  • 1 head of iceburg lettuce
  • 1 can of fried onions
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded muenster cheese
  • 8 strips of turkey bacon
  • 2 medium tomatoes, diced
  • buttermilk ranch salad dressing

To start, cut the lettuce into about 8 wedges. Rinse really well and place on top paper towels

Cook turkey in butter until crisp. Break into small pieces.

Stack lettuce, dressing, tomatoes, turkey bacon, and cheese.

Top with fried onions.

All done

I  had the children’s plates ready when they came home, and on the table displayed nicely and their reaction w priceless. What a weird looking salad! They ate it and went back for more.

My daughter wrapped her leftover white bean chili in hers. I made 3 wedges for myself. They all kept coming back and just eating the lettuce saying it tastes like  crunchy water! This goes to show that I never  buy iceburg; I like romaine, green leaf, red leaf, or anything besides iceburg because they have more vitamins

but hey for that reaction, I’ll buy iceburg quarterly
